How HUMA's pay-as-you-go credit system works.

Overview

HUMA uses a pay-as-you-go credit system. You are only charged when AI features are used — there are no per-seat fees or idle costs. Credits are the currency for all AI actions.


Getting Credits

Signup Bonus

Every new HUMA account receives $10 in free credits automatically:

  • Valid for 7 days from account creation
  • One per unique email address (enforced via tombstone records to prevent abuse)
  • No credit card required

Topping Up

Add credits at any time from: WorkspaceSettingsBillingAdd Credits

Credits you purchase do not expire.


How Credits Are Consumed

Usage-Based Billing

Credits are consumed based on your actual usage of AI features. Each action — a voice interview, report generation, or chatbot query — consumes a precise amount of credits proportional to the resources used. You only pay for what you actually use.

Consumption Order

Credits are deducted from the soonest-expiring balance first:

  1. Gift credits (e.g. welcome bonus) — expire first
  2. Purchased credits — no expiry, consumed last

This ensures your free credits are always used before paid ones.

Transaction History

Every credit deduction is recorded with:

  • Timestamp
  • Action type (AI call, report, chatbot, etc.)
  • Credits deducted
  • Remaining balance

Go to SettingsBillingTransaction History to view all charges.


Low Credit Notifications

HUMA sends a notification when your workspace credit balance falls below a configurable threshold. Go to SettingsNotifications to configure the low-balance alert threshold.

When credits reach $0, AI features are paused until you top up. Your data remains fully accessible.


FAQ

Do credits expire? Purchased credits never expire. Gift credits (e.g. signup bonus) expire after 7 days.

Can I get a refund on unused credits? Contact support at hello@humain-tech.com for refund inquiries.

Who can see billing information? Only workspace admins can view billing and transaction history.

Can I set a spending limit? Per-workspace spending limits are planned for a future release. Currently you can monitor usage via transaction history.

What happens to credits if I delete a workspace? Credits are tied to your account, not the workspace. They remain available for other workspaces.
